Health & Safety
It is the policy of the Company that its operations are conducted at all times in such a way as to safeguard the health, safety and welfare of all employees at work, and of all other persons who may be affected by its activities.
The Company shall at all times dedicate sufficient resources in time, people and money to facilitate instruction, training and supervision to provide a safe place of work for all employees and all members of the public who could come into contact with the operations of the Company. The only acceptable standard of Health & Safety and for welfare facilities will be full and proper compliance with the requirements of legislation. Where it is possible and sensible to do so the Company will exceed the minimum requirements of the legislation
DNV – Det Norske Veritas
Dakin has held the DNV International Contractor Safety Award and been active partners in the International Contractors Safety Rating System (ICSRS) since the year 2000. This requires us to hold detailed and documented site safety procedures for use on all developments whether large or small. These procedures are audited annually, including construction site audits, to ensure compliance.
SAFEcontractor
The SAFEcontractor scheme is designed to review and audit the health and safety policies, procedures and documentation of contractors. Dakin Contractors are accredited members for businesses under these categories:

To consult, on health and safety matters, with our employees and others who we may control to ensure this policy and arrangements for health and safety are kept up to date
Control Risk
To fully and effectively control the health and safety risks arising from our work activities in co-operation with other contractors, clients, designers and where necessary the Planning Supervisor
Safe Plant
To provide and ensure that all plant and equipment owned, used or hired by the company is safe to use and properly maintained
Safe Storage
To ensure that all equipment, materials and substances used by the Company are used, handled and stored safely.
Staff Training
To ensure that all employees are provided with adequate supervisory training, information and instructions to competently carry out their work activities
Staff Health
To ensure that accident and ill health prevention is given the highest priority commensurate with business objectives, within all Company operations
Work Conditions
To ensure that all working places are maintained in a safe and healthy condition
Provisions
To provide adequate resources, including sufficient finance, and access to competent health and safety advice, to achieve the aims of this policy
Regular Reviews
To review and revise this policy statement at regular intervals and also where necessary due to changes in the company activities
Staff Responsible
Co-ordination of all Safety Matters is the joint responsibility of the Company’s Contract Managers, Tom Finnegan, Vince Dalton and Dylan Raubenheimer
Staff Duty
All employees are reminded that they have a statutory duty to take care of the Health and safety of themselves and of any others who may be affected by their work.
